In 2014, a blood-red sea of ceramic poppies was 'planted' at theTower of London to commemorate the centenary of the First World War raised millions of pounds for charity.
An artist, Paul Cummins, paid tribute with a spectacular work of art in London. Entitled Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, eventually saw a staggering 888,246 poppies appear in the grounds of the Tower - one for every soldier from the UK, Australia and the Commonwealth killed during the Great War. |
